ACRO Presents Before Japan CRO Association

WASHINGTON, D.C. and TOKYO – As the voice of the global clinical outsourcing industry, the Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO) had the honor of presenting before the Japan CRO Association’s 15th Commemorative Symposium February 26th, 2009 in Tokyo.

ACRO Chair Derek Winstanly, MBChB, discussed “The Modern Day CRO – Expectations” and ACRO Executive Director Douglas Peddicord, Ph.D. addressed “Representing a Global Industry.” Dr. Winstanly is Executive Vice President of Strategic Business Development for Quintiles Transnational, a global CRO with offices in 50 countries, including 13 in Japan.

“The drug development process and the clinical outsourcing market are becoming increasingly global in scope, bringing about a need for consistent messaging and positioning of the industry before regulators, lawmakers, research sponsors, patient groups and the public,” said Dr. Peddicord.

ACRO joined with JCROA and the European CRO Federation (EUCROF) in signing The Tokyo Declaration, which outlines areas of common interest and cooperation.

“The Declaration is another step toward the CRO industry speaking with a unified voice throughout the world,” added Peddicord.
