CLINICAL RESEARCH SAFETY AND ETHICAL STANDARDS IN DEVELOPING WORLD UP TO U.S. STANDARDS, REPORT SAYS

WHAT: A major report by the Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO) concludes that clinical trials conducted in the developing world are as safe and ethical as those conducted in the developed world.

ACRO is urging several steps to ensure that a robust global research infrastructure continues to develop to facilitate accelerated drug development.

WHEN/WHERE: Tuesday, July 21, 2009
10:00 am EST
1-888-587-0613/Conference ID: 4728920

WHY: There has been a dramatic increase in clinical trials conducted in emerging markets over the past decade. Two factors are fueling the growth in developing world trials: fewer Americans are enrolling in trials, and because it’s advantageous for pharmaceutical companies to bring drugs to market more quickly and cost-effectively.

WHO: Doug Peddicord, Executive Director of ACRO
Todd Clark, President, VOI Consulting, Inc.
Dr. Derek Winstanly, Executive VP, Strategic Business Partnerships, Quintiles Transnational Corp., and ACRO Chairman
