New ACRO Video Series Spotlights R&D, Innovation, Economic Growth
August 12, 2013 – WASHINGTON, DC – A new series of videos from theAssociation of Clinical Research Organizations focuses on encouraging innovation, efficient research that emphasizes the patient, and the economic growth that comes from bilateral cooperation between two large economies.
“The new series of videos on our YouTube channel will help stakeholders learn about the wide variety of issues that impact the CRO industry,” said John Lewis, ACRO Vice President of Public Affairs. “YouTube is an important vehicle to help educate policymakers, stakeholders and others about the important role clinical research organizations play in bringing new treatments and therapies to patients.”
The videos include discussions with:
- Shelly Mui-Lipnik of the Coalition of Small Business Innovators. ACRO is a member of this coalition, which is advocating reforms of the U.S. tax code to encourage more research and development.
- Former U.S. Rep. Tony Coehlo (D-CA) and Sara van Geertruyden of thePartnership to Improve Patient Care (PIPC), which pushes for patient-focused comparative effectiveness research.
- Amy Hariani of the U.S.-India Business Council on trade, biotechnology, intellectual property and what’s the future for innovators in India.
- Michael Werner, executive director of the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine, focusing on how to make research more efficient in order to foster increased innovation.
Other new videos highlight CRO industry leaders Ciaran Murray, CEO of ICON plc, and Jamie Macdonald, CEO of INC Research, discussing business topics such as risk-based monitoring, performance metrics and risk-sharing.
In May, ACRO released videos featuring Ladd Wiley, Executive Director of theAlliance for a Stronger FDA, and Michael Reilly, Executive Director of the Alliance for Safe Biologic Medicines.
